MILITARY OR CIVILIAN: Military

HIGHEST RANK: SSgt

START - DEPART DATES: July 1960 - May 1961

ORG: Data

OTHER: I headed one of the Data teams and SSgt Rosie Obrian (spelling?) was the head of the other. Casper Kramer (Spook) and I left the same time for the Airman Education Commission Program. I went to Oklahoma State and he went to Arizona. We were the first two selected from Orlando AS for that program.

Reminiscences of an old fart:

When I first got there, the unit borrowed one of those modern 6-room barracks for the troops. Jim Farrington was my assistant barrack chief. Few months later we had to give up the building and moved into an old wooden open bay barrack with just two single rooms. We used pot belly stove and burned coal to keep warm in the winter. Lt Mikami (spelling?) from Hawaii, I and few others were sent to Patrick AFB to learn to use the equipment to read the film plates from the BC-4 Ballistic cameras. I was there for only few months. Consequently I didn't get to know many people in the unit. I do remember few of the people from those days:

Sgt Dale Zimmer

Rosie Obrien

Casper Kramer

Lt Wally Mikami

Airman Carolyn King, I dated few times

Airman Flo Barrio from the Phillippines, who was my assistant BC after Farrington left.

Jim Farrington

Capt Maulinnex (spelling?)
